Congressional Medal of Honor Society: Phillips, Josiah
Award the Medal for capture of a Confederate flag on April 2, 1865, at Sutherland Station, Virginia. New York born Phillips was in the U.S. Army, a member of the 148th Pennsylvania Infantry, Company E. 

 The gravesite is visible at the base of the tree.
