 Veterans Memorial Park
This Park has been created to remember those who served, as well as to educate those who come to visit. While walking the Park you will note that it has been laid out to show our military service branches which protect us -- the United States Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard -- as well as those who served our country faithfully in those branches.

From the vantage point of this sign you can see the Ceremonial Entrance pad upon which stands flag poles bearing our National flag, State flag, the flags of each service branch, the flags of our local veterans service organizations -- the Veterans of  Foreign Wars and the American Legion -- and the flag remembering American Prisoners of War and our Missing in Action. At the head of the pad stands an eagle with wings outstretched, supported on a column whose base has the outline of our state. The monument represents the protective shield provided by service members past, present and future.

From the Ceremonial Entrance, you can start your journey down the Walk of Heroes. As you proceed, you will see bricks inscribed with the names of those, both living and dead, who have honorably served in our country's military. The bricks have been placed here by friends and family members of the veterans.

Military protocol requires that monuments to the service branches be placed, from north to south, in the following order: Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard. Since the Walk of Heroes in this Park starts from the south, you will see the monuments to those branches in reverse order, starting with the U.S. Coast Guard. After that, you will see the monuments for the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy. At the northeast corner of the Walk you will see a bronze monument, the Fallen Comrades Memorial. This monument of stacked arms, covered by a helmet, with a bugle below, sits upon a black granite base where the names of local residents who gave their lives in our country's defense, from the Civil War to present day, are inscribed. From the Fallen Comrades Memorial, the Walk of Heroes heads west toward the monuments for the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Army.

Upon returning to the Ceremonial Entrance, please turn, look out upon the monuments and names, and remember those who gave so much to protect our country's freedom and interests.
The memorial is located at DeForest Veterans Memorial Park located on northbound North Main Street / County Highway CV, just north of its intersection with Carriage Way, DeForest, Wisconsin 53532.
