To the memory of over 600 men, women and children who perished when every building in the Village of Peshtigo was burned and many surrounding farms were devastated in the great tornado of fire October 8, 1871.
The marker is located at a small, triangle-shaped greenbelt at the intersection of Maple Street / U.S. Business 41 and County B / U.S. Business 41, Peshtigo, Wisconsin 54157.
