U.S.S. Cobia

Laid Down 17 March 1943
Launched 28 November 1943
Commissioned 29 March 1944
Manitowoc, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin
44° 5.561′ N, 87° 39.362′ W

The U.S.S. Cobia is located in the Manitowoc River alongside Mariner's Trail, a walking path alongside the Manitowoc River and behind the Wisconsin Maritime Museum.  The museum is located at 75 Maritime Drive, Manitowoc, Wisconsin 54220.

Just by serendipity, I photographed the U.S.S. Cobia on the 70th anniversary of her 29 March 1944 commission. So cool!

NOTE: All photos taken on Quay Street, on the south side of the Manitowoc River.

Manitowoc Breakwater Lighthouse is in the distance.

 There is parking to the right, just before the bridge;
then walk to the center of the bridge to take photos of U.S.S. Cobia.
