CHRISTIAN "CHRIS" STEINMETZ
The "Father of Wisconsin Basketball" and founder of the Milwaukee "W" Club. He starred on the Badger basketball teams of 1902 through 1905. Set many records for points per game and season in the year 1904-1905 which are still unbroken. Born, June 28, 1882, at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Elected 1957.
The marker is located at the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena, and is accessible from southbound
North 4th Street, between West State Street (to the north) and West
Kilbourn Avenue (to the south), at or near 400 West Kilbourn Avenue,
Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53203.
Inductees
