Castle Mound State Natural Area

The marker is located at Castle Mount Campground on eastbound East 2md Street / U.S. Route 12, east of its intersection with Hickory Street, at or near W10325 US-12, Black River Falls, Wisconsin 54615.

unique geological features and old-growth
pine forest.

lichens, and other organisms.

Watch for birds. Red-tailed and
Cooper's hawks are known to nest
nearby.

Plants typical of the northern forest
include Pipissewa, Large-leaved aster,
Patridge berry, and Wintergreen.

Along the 1.5-mile nature trail, you
can enjoy unique rock features and
abundant plant and animal life.
