HALE
With the exception of the Peshtigo Company, Mr. Hale sustained the greatest monetary loss in the Peshtigo Fire. He was the owner of a hotel and many homes in the city. On the night of the fire, he and his family ran to the creek north of the site of the present museum. He carried the family Bible with him and in the confusion that night, he lost track of his Bible. It was found the next day floating in the water. This Bible is on display in the museum.
The marker is located at the Peshtigo Fire Cemetery, adjacent to the Peshtigo Fire Museum, located at 400 Oconto Avenue, Peshtigo, Wisconsin 54157.
