From Vision to Village
The Story of Pinecrest Historical Village
The Manitowoc County Historical Society has been active in this community since 1906. As the organization grew, so too did the idea of creating a historical village to preserve our county's treasured past and educate future generations. The dream became a reality in 1970 when the first building was moved onto the property donated by Hugo and Eleanor (Sorenson) Vetting. The house was the childhood home of Eleanor Vetting and is still part of the museum today as the Sorenson House.

Since the first building was moved to Pinecrest Historical Village, the site has steadily grown with the help of our community. Buildings were carefully selected from across Manitowoc County, moved, restored and furnished to create a complete interpretation of a small Wisconsin village similar to what existed here from around 1850 to 1910.

Pinecrest Historical Village is a jewel of our community and stands as a testament to the generosity of the Vetting Family as well as the countless volunteers that have lend their time and enthusiasm to creating this wonderful museum. We hope you enjoy your visit and please consider joining us today as a member of the Manitowoc County Historical Society.
