- IN RECOGNITION -
WHEREAS one hundred years ago on June 9, 1909, the State of Wisconsin created a system of state parks with Peninsula's the first property established under that act with the purpose, then and now, of preserving Wisconsin magnificent environmental heritage for future generations; 
WHEREAS Peninsula provides 3,776 acres of natural wealth and splendor accessible to all people for sustainable, nature-based recreation;

WHEREAS these experiences, at this unique state park, forge spiritual connections to Wisconsin's remarkable heritage by cultivating a sense of pride in and memory of Peninsula's legacy of land and people;

WHEREAS dedicated professionals and volunteers have collaborated for a century, and will continue to do so in the future, to preserve the ecological integrity of Peninsula's diverse living things and landscapes;

WHEREAS Peninsula State Park is celebrating 100 Years of Memories;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JIM DOYLE,
Governor of the State of Wisconsin, do hereby designate
PENINSULA STATE PARK as a CENTENNIAL STATE PARK

A valuable resource and destination that exemplifies
the very best of Wisconsin State Parks 

The marker is located at the entrance to Peninsula State Park, next to the Park Headquarters, at the southern entrance to the park, located on northbound Shore Road, just north of its intersection with Egg Harbor Road / Wisconsin Highway 42, Fish Creek, Wisconsin 54212.

NOTE: This is a fee area; a Wisconsin State Park System sticker or daily use fee are required.
