St. Martin Island Lighthouse (Michigan)

The only way to access this lighthouse is by boat. The lighthouse is included on this blog (even though it is in Michigan waters) because it was visited during the Door County Lighthouse Festival as part of the Island Clipper Tour.

This light tower is the only example in the United States of a pure exoskeletal tower on the Great Lakes.

Lighthouse, lightkeepers house, and a third building --
all abandoned and deteriorating . . .

My zen shot -- trumpeter swans fly into the frame
and an eagle sits a top the chimney . . .

The out building (check out the eagle on the chimney)

out of Gills Rock, Door County, Wisconsin
