With malice toward none, with
charity for all, with firmess
in the right as God gives us to
see the right let us strive on
to finish the work we are in,
to ding up the nation's wounds,
to care for him who small have
borne the battle and for
his widow and his orphan --
to do all which may achieve
and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves
and with all nations.

The statue is on a triangular median at the intersection where North Kane Street meets South Kane Street and West State Street meets East State Street, Burlington, Wisconsin 53105.

NOTE: The statue was vandalized in January 2016 and has been moved to storage until a decision is made about the statue's future.

So sad to see this kind of behavior in small town Wisconsin . . .

About 2,000 people attended the event. The statue was draped in an American flag until the unveiling.
